FROM THE MANAGER

Happy New Year!

Recent visitors to the FBO may have noticed some big changes already this year. As the airport and local businesses continue to grow despite the recent economic downturns, we have taken the opportunity to freshen up the place.

At the end of last year, Coastal Skies Aero Club moved out of the FBO and into their own hangar to provide more space for their instructors and students. In turn, the FBO has returned to a traditional FBO format so that we may provide better service to our based and transient customers. We are still in the process of making improvements so please bear with us, but already this month we’ve repainted, supplied a brand new flight planning computer, and set up a more comfortable lounge area. This is just the start to many improvements coming this year airport-wide.

On a more serious note, when was the last time you reviewed your emergency plans? Pearland Airport is home to many businesses and hangars which can be a confusing place to navigate for first time visitors; especially emergency personnel. On several occasions in the past year, the FBO has been visited by ambulances and fire trucks attempting to find the location of a call but have only had the FBO address to respond to.

Please note that 17622 Airfield lane only applies to the FBO building and staff are usually surprised when emergency vehicles show up at the front door. In these situations, we don’t know where to direct the first responders which can waste critical time. This also applies to deliveries; whether mail or construction supplies. Packages are regularly refused when they are not addressed to the airport or prior arrangements have not been made. Please give clear directions to companies who are making deliveries within the airport and make sure they know to keep clear of the runway at all times. If you are expecting a large delivery, feel free to notify the airport office and we’d be happy to help direct drivers to the proper location.

Also, while on the topic of airport locations, the airport is planning a larger signage project airport-wide. If you would like to include your company in the future planning, please contact me directly for further information.

As KLVJ continues to grow, we want your company to grow as well! To help you, KLVJ would be proud to begin spotlighting a business in our newsletter. Anyone interested in having their company appear in a spotlight, please contact me directly to submit your business.

UNICOM / CTAF change reminder changing to 122.725 on 02/25/21. Continue to use 122.8 until then.

Thank you, stay safe, and God bless!

Jason Panos

General Manager

NEW FREQUENCY

We have received a new license from the FCC to change our CTAF and UNICOM from 122.8 to 122.725. This will make communication much easier as we will no longer be competing with any airports within a 60 mile radius.

The change will take effect February 25, 2021. Until that date, please continue to use our current frequency of 122.8.

We will be sending a reminder email as the effective date approaches.

FUELING UPDATE

A while ago we informed users that Pearland Regional Airport (PRA) will no longer be able to offer full-service fueling on certain properties without an agreement in place from the property owners.

We are pleased to inform you that another property owner has signed an agreement and we are now able to provide full-service fuel with our trucks (as seen in green below). These areas now include all of the Nighthawk hangars and hail sheds, in addition to the hangars at Texas Propeller (The Prop Shop).

Properties shown below in red do not have an agreement in place and therefore we are still unable to provide service with our fuel trucks.

If you have questions about how we can continue to serve your fueling and other airport needs, please contact General Manager, Jason, by email or (281) 482-7551.

For any questions regarding the agreements or future restricted access, please contact the owner of the property from which you access the airport.

We really appreciate the excitement and had quite a bit of fun. Several of the pictures sent in were excellent, however only the winners of the KLVJ self-serve gift cards have been contacted.
